Mobilizing locally and thinking globally 

Our chapters build AI literacy in their own communities, publish context-specific policy research, and contribute to AI governance processes at every level. The result is coordinated pressure on AI policy from every direction at once.

Our Past Work

Across our network of 20+ chapters and ~300 members, we have:

Delivered testimony at three UN convenings calling for a legally binding treaty on autonomous weapons systems.

Published a co-authored brief by youth representatives across ten Global Majority chapters, delivered to tech ministers ahead of the AI Safety Summit in France.

Convened the Next GenAI Forum, a pre-AI Summit event with ~230 participants across hubs in Accra, Ankara, Astana, and Montreal.

Produced a synthesis brief delivered to the India AI Impact Summit 2026.Global Dialogue on AI.

Hosted a hybrid AI summit in Nigeria that received national press coverage.

Coordinated monthly AI Safety Action Weeks across Sub-Saharan Africa and MENA, training 85+ participants in a single edition.

Participated as EU AI Pact stakeholders and responded to European Commission consultations on AI safety, AI in science, and the Digital Omnibus.

Published policy briefs on autonomous weapons systems, AI-enabled fraud, frontier AI regulation, profiling misuse, and AI governance equity.

Members of GAIN have been members of the UN Global Digital Compact process, UNICEF's Best Interest of the Child Project and consulted on the UN Global Dialogue on AI.
